HICL Company History

HICL was launched on 29 March 2006 when it listed on the London Stock Exchange, in the process becoming the first infrastructure investment company to list on the LSE. It gave investors access to an initial portfolio of 15 infrastructure projects which had been developed and managed through their construction phase by the primary infrastructure team at HSBC Specialist Investments Limited. All projects in the initial portfolio were long-term concessions based on public sector or government-backed revenues and 'availability' - based rather than dependent on usage for revenue.

The portfolio now comprises 31 investments and its assets are predominantly operational. HICL is headquartered in Guernsey.
